Lions Alzheimer
Association is created in 1995. Under the presidency of Doctor Rene Sliosberg,
doctor-gériatre, creator of the Daytime Reception Center (DRC)
of Saint-Germain-en-laye, Lions Alzheimer places itself at disposal of
all Lions Clubs in France which wish to support and promote the creation
of DRC. Vocation of a Daytime Reception Center Without any real curative treatment today, the Alzheimer disease poses a true problem of public health, as well on the human level as financial, allowing today hardly other choice but the maintenance of the patient at home, plunging the family in social and psychological loneliness, or the placement in specialized institutions, expensive and source, always for the family, of a feeling of impotence and culpability. In front of this report, the Daytime Reception Center seems a true alternative: it makes it possible to receive the patients in a protected place and brings assistance and relief to the families. The Lions of France decided, in June 2000 to give an impulse particular to the development of these establishments by choosing Lions Alzheimer like National Action over the period 2000/2003. |
